In-Die Numbering Heads - Model 130ID
For many parts manufacturers, tracking products throughout the stamping or manufacturing process can be both challenging and costly. Traditionally, retainer and backing plates in the die are used to hold date codes, part numbers, or other markings. These components are typically marked during stamping or production. While effective for years, this method leaves room for significant improvement.
Historically, updating these markings required removing the retainer and backing plate sets by unscrewing two fasteners. A skilled operator might accomplish this task in about five minutes, but even so, it’s a tedious and time-intensive process that disrupts production flow.
Enter the numbering head—a game-changing innovation in tooling design. Installed directly in the die, this modern tool allows operators to update markings almost instantaneously. By simply rotating a wheel, the desired number can be adjusted in just 2 to 3 seconds. This streamlined operation not only minimizes downtime but also enhances accessibility, making the marking process faster, more efficient, and less labor-intensive.
