Columbia controls the three variables for a quality hot stamp impression:

Pressure is developed by a double acting air cylinder controlled through an air pressure regulator.

Heat is developed by high density cartridge heaters, assuring uniform heat distribution. Columbia offers a basic internal adjustable heat control thermo-switch, or thermocouple sensor for use with optional remote digital heat control.

Dwell is controlled by either a solid state, or pneumatic, adjustable timer.

A NOTE ABOUT STAMPING PRESSURE:

Metal Dies & Type require about 1/2 to 1 ton of pressure per square inch of solid impression area. Softer plastics (vinyl, polyethylene, ABS) require less pressure than harder plastics (styrene, etc.).

Silicone Rubber Dies require about 300 to 400 lbs. per square inch of solid impression area. Since stamping pressures and heat requirements vary so widely, it is recommended that samples be submitted for evaluation prior to final equipment selection.
