Indention Marking Tools & Machines
Indention marking is a permanent marking method. In this method of marking a die or stamp, generally made from steel, is applied with force to the material. This force makes an indented mark.

Indention Marking Tools and Machines come in a wide range of styles. The simple hand stamp and hand holder offer cost effective indention marking for low volume applications. Roll Marking and Press Styles of indention marking machines offer choices for high volume marking requirements.
Marking methods for indention marking range from hand stamping to automated roll marking:
- Hand Stamps
- Hand Holders
- Press stamps and holders
- Roll Dies
- Air Impact marking machines
- Numbering Heads
- Hot Stamping - in this case the dies are heated to melt (indent) plastic
- Marking Presses
- Roll Marking Machines

| Individual steel stamps are simply hit with a hammer to apply the force required for basic indention marking. These are the most basic form of indention marking, and still are in wide use today. | ![]() |

One step up is the hand holder for of indention marking. In this technique multiple characters are indented at once. This of course requires a multiplication of the force. the total force equals the number of character times the force as shown on the pressure chart. Then a little reality is required as is determined what each size hammer in a manual hammer blow is capable of in the estimated marking force. |

| When reality is a little too much for the indention marking to take place via a manual operation press holders are used in combination with presses for the indention marking machines. | ![]() |

Roll Dies offer a great solutions for continuous indention marking. These are installed in roller systems and combine to make a cost effective solution to provide permanent indented marks. They may also be used in complete roll marking machines. |

| Air impact markers are the most compact and automated indention marking machines offered by CMT. These air cylinders may be installed in larger prouction requipment. The indention marking becomes part of the overall machine process. | ![]() |

Numbering heads are a unique tooling designed for indention marking machines. They serialize the numbers being marked. Through numbering heads variable numbers may be quickly marked with an indention marking machine. |

| The indention marking machines that are designed for marking plastic parts use three elements: Force, Heat, Time. Heated metal stamps and dies are used in conjunction with a pneumatic air cylinder to press an indention into plastic parts. | ![]() |
